Practise Yoga outdoors in the fresh air, greeting the sun in the morning. Ease those tired joints, discover the power of the breath, stretch and flex your body as well as calm your mind with Avril Berry, Yoga Teacher and Yoga Therapist. We can also recommend other local therapists if you'd like a massage when you are here.
Walkers are spoiled for choice – the Eildon Hills, right on our doorstep, Cheviots, Lammermuirs and the Moorfoots all offer excellent hill-walking opportunities. The Scottish Borders Walking Festival celebrates a different area each year where you can join in guided walks. St Cuthbert's Way is right alongside Roulotte Retreat, there's also the Borders Abbeys Way, Southern Upland Way and the Pennine Way if you wish to follow established routes or simply stroll along the River Tweed or through the local woodlands.
There are a number of close by walking and hiking trails. Details of local walks will be provided on the noticeboard in the carpark or feel free to research more before you arrive - see links below.
Roulotte Retreat offers a special and unique location for showcasing your beautiful, quality products. Commercial filming or photoshoots are possible, but must be arranged separately from a holiday booking.
We are always interested to hear from those who would like to organise workshops with a variety of interests, including: Art, Photography, Film, Voicework, Song-writing, Creative Writing, Arts and Crafts, Foraging, Massage, Yoga, Mindfulness, Bird and Wildlife Watching, Walking, Storytelling, Music, Star Gazing .... or if you are looking for that unique place for your next Corporate Away Days, with a difference, talk to us and we can help you organise.
If you are interested in bringing groups to participate in specialist subjects in a creative and relaxed space then get in touch with us. Roulotte Retreat is another world, in the midst of the countryside, but yet with all mod cons and only 10 minutes from wonderful restaurants and bistros in Melrose and an hour away from Edinburgh.

Creative writing – The Scottish Borders has a rich literary heritage with famous authors including: Sir Walter Scott, John Buchan, James Hogg the Ettrick Shepherd and more. Tap into that creative energy and enjoy time out on your own or bring a group to put pen to paper and unleash that creative stallion within.
Arts & Crafts – Visits to local studios and craft workshops are great sources of inspiration as well as excellent retail therapy. Some local artists offer courses in drawing, painting, watercolours, sculpture, pottery, printing, woodworking, etc.
Cycling is excellent around the Scottish Borders, bring your own bicycles or we can help to organise cycle hire or electric cycle hire locally. You can explore the many meandering B roads nearby, stopping off at cafes, taking in the view at a relaxed pace, or head for the infamous 7stanes and mountain biking terrain of Glentress, Innerleithen and Newcastleton.
Guests, Roulotte Retreat
What once was an exhibition space in Glasgow in 1952 and Dryburgh Abbey's Gift Shop for decades is now a beautiful, light-filled Studio, complete with chandeliers, low level Moroccan lighting, wood burning stove at its heart and an outdoor covered wooden deck.
At Roulotte Retreat, try the many and varied active sports on offer in the Scottish Borders, including: canoeing, kayaking, horse-riding, mountain biking, wild swimming, paddle boarding, hiking, tree-climbing, and more.
Roulotte Retreat is just perfect for events, gatherings, workshops where participants gather in the Studio and on the covered Deck, but also can enjoy the privacy of their own Roulotte space for quiet contemplative, reflective, and creative time.
It's a dream to be here! Come to the heart of the Scottish Borders and stay in one of our magical roulettes for an experience you'll never forget.
